Feds confirm military help on the way to SK
Federal Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Bill Blair confirmed in a Twitter thread this evening, the government of Canada has approved Saskatchewan's request for assistance.
In the tweets, Minister Blair says "The Canadian Forces will provide communities the support they need to fight the pandemic." Minister Blair says the federal government is also in talks with the government of Saskatchewan about deploying other resources, specifically the Canadian Red Cross. Blair says more information will be released shortly.
Saskatchewan continues to battle a fourth wave of COVID that has caused stress on the provincial health care system. At present, Saskatchewan leads the country in the per capita number of deaths due to COVID over the last 14 days.
