Spray Pads Open, High Temps Expected The Next Few Days

Spray pads will open for the season on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 10 a.m., and will be operational daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Spray pad sites located on or near school grounds have timers and are set to turn spray features off during recess and lunch breaks. Shut-off times will vary according to individual school schedules. All spray pads are activated by push buttons located near the spray features.

Guidelines are in place to protect yourself and others from COVID-19, while using the spray pads.

  • Do not use the spray pad if you are sick.

  • Stay 2 metres apart at all times from those not in your group.

  • Your group must not exceed the restrictions on public gatherings.

  • Wash or sanitize your hands before and after using the spray pad.

  • If spray pad area is busy, come back when it is not as busy.

The opening of the spray pads in the city comes on the same day Environment Canada issued a special weather statement, warning of high temperatures over the next few days. Environment Canada expects daytime highs to reach into the 30's and says heat warnings may be issued in the coming days.
