Police Arrest Two On Drug Charges

Two people were arrested outside the city yesterday following the joint efforts of the SPS Guns and Gangs Unit, Tactical Support Unit, Air Support Unit (ASU), Canine Unit, RCMP and Corman Park Police Service.

On May 11, 2021, investigators with the Guns and Gangs Unit observed two individuals involved in activity consistent with drug trafficking. The male and female suspects were observed making frequent stops around Saskatoon in a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. At approximately 3:30 p.m., Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Circle Drive and Valley Road but the driver refused to stop, fleeing at a high rate of speed. ASU observed the suspects traveling down various grid roads south of the city, at one point, discarding a loaded shotgun and rifle from the vehicle, which were later seized by Police.

The suspects abandoned the vehicle in Vanscoy, SK, prior to attempting to hide in a backyard. ASU guided ground units to the suspects’ location where they were taken into custody without further incident.

The pair were found in possession of cash, cell phones and prepackaged cocaine.

A 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman are facing a combined 28 charges including firearms-related offences, Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of the Proceeds of Crime Under $5000, Evade Police, Dangerous Driving and Breach of Release.
